Summer Internship

Software Engineering students are required to complete two separate internships, one after the second year and another after the third year summer break:

  • Internship I: Minimum 20 working days (after the second year)
  • Internship II: Minimum 30 working days (after the third year)

Students must register for the related internship course in the semester following the summer in which the internship was completed:

  • After Internship I: SENG 399 – Internship I
  • After Internship II: SENG 499 – Internship II

Criteria for Internship Institutions

  • Universities cannot be accepted as internship institutions (except for companies located in TEKNOKENT).
  • The internship must be conducted in a software/IT company or in the software/IT department of an institution.
  • The institution must have at least one Computer or Software Engineer.
  • Students cannot complete their internship in a company they founded themselves.
  • Mandatory internships cannot be conducted online. They must be carried out in-person.

General Rules

  • The two mandatory internships cannot be combined and completed as a single 50-working-day internship in the same institution. They must be done separately and in different institutions.
  • Both internships cannot be done in the same summer (except for students who are about to graduate).
  • Both internships cannot be completed at the same institution.
  • To register for SENG 399 or SENG 499, the internship must have been successfully completed beforehand.

Internship Process

  1. The student arranges the internship with the institution.
  2. The Compulsory Internship Approval Form (KYS-FR-84) must be signed and stamped by the institution.
(Internships will not be approved if the form is missing the signature or stamp.)
  3. The form must be submitted to the internship coordinator via MyTEDU Portal, at least 3 business days before the internship start date.
  4. The student may start the internship after receiving approval from the internship coordinator.
  5. On the first day of the internship, the student delivers the Intern Evaluation Form (KYS-FR-17) to the authorized person at the institution.
  6. The Intern Evaluation Form must be submitted by the student in a sealed envelope to the Faculty Secretariat or to the faculty member responsible for the internship course at the beginning of the semester. The student is responsible for ensuring that the form is delivered to the relevant faculty member. Students who complete voluntary internships are not required to submit either an internship report or an evaluation form from the institution where they completed their internship.
  7. After completing their internship, students register for the internship course (SENG 399 or SENG 499) at the beginning of the semester. The report, presentation, time plan, and evaluation criteria that the student must prepare within the scope of the relevant course are specified in the relevant course syllabus at the beginning of the semester. You can access the sample report format from the Internship Report Templates section at the bottom of this page.
