Our Undergraduate Students' Academic Work Accepted to be Presented at the IEEE Conference!

The academic study titled "Insurance Fraud Detection Using Machine Learning and XAI Algorithms" prepared by Dr. Emin Kugu, Dr. Haydar Cukurtepe, our undergraduate students Hilal Yurtoğlu and Zeynep Bölükbaşı was accepted within the scope of the 2025 IEEE Region 4 Electro/Information Technology Conference (EIT 2025) and presented at the conference held with international participation on May 29-31, 2025.
In the study:
Numerous machine learning algorithms were applied to detect insurance fraud,
Model decisions were analyzed using explainable AI (XAI) techniques such as SHAP and LIME,
The class imbalance issue was addressed using SMOTE, and
The highest performance was achieved with the ensemble method, Voting Classifier, where models make decisions collectively.
One of the most significant contributions of the study was that the model outputs revealed not only the results but also the reasons behind them.
